The Slough Observer reports
The
re-generation scheme for Kennedy Park, Britwell has been questioned
following Britwell residents expressing their feelings about the
project. Residents say
that building a football stadium on Kennedy Park will not benefit
those who live nearby. They have claimed that the project was about
boosting the pockets of businessmen and The Slough Borough Council.
Their
worries include traffic, crime and hooliganism.
Christine
Howe, project manager talked about how Britwell could be improved if
Slough Town FC were to move to Kennedy Park.
Ideas
included key worker housing, improved shops and overall a better
Kennedy Park.
Residents
fear that once the stadium has been built, all the other plans will
go to waste. Joanne
Camden, a Britwell resident said "When we do get the stadium
Britwell will be forgotten about.
"Everybody
is opposing the stadium. Britwell has a big hole and putting a
football stadium there is not going to make it better.
"We
have got enough hooliganism around here and it's not going to help
it". Some people
couldn't see how this would benefit the youth in around Kennedy
Park. One resident even went as far as describing the whole project
a 'logistical nightmare'.
Mrs
Howe went on to say "Without the football stadium we would not
be able to generate the money to do all these things".
